How easy is it to contract HIV from unprotected heterosexual sex?

It is very difficult to contract HIV from unprotected vaginal sex. According to the CDC, the risk of contracting HIV from one act of unprotected vaginal sex with an HIV-positive person is less than 1 in 1000. HIV Risk Behaviors The risk is substantially higher if the sex is very rough, or if either partner has another STD. If you are in the habit of having unprotected vaginal sex with people whose disease status you are unsure of, there are several other STDs that are much more common and much more contagious than HIV. These include: herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV, syphilis, and viral hepatitis. Those are what you should be worried about, not HIV.
